One of the most unpopular things in the Texas is the twice yearly changing of time. This weekend, most Americans will be moving their clocks back one hour before going to bed on Saturday night. Why can’t the government just leave the time alone?
Some states like Arizona do not participate in Daylight Savings Time and I wish Texas would do the same. The standard answer given by elected officials is that when we ‘Springing Forward’ the nation saves millions of dollars on things like electricity.
Okay, fine. Then why don’t we save money year-round and leave the time the same in the winter, as it is in the summer? Honestly, I think some folks just like to change things just because they can and then make up silly reasons for doing it.
There have been medical studies done, which prove that all this changing of the time is not good for our health. Especially, folks with heart problems and sleep disorders are affected negatively during these semi-annual time changes.
The world is totally different now than it used to be when this idea was first thought up. And I’m pretty sure most Texans would be happier, if our state joined Arizona and stopped these time changes, too.
