A search is underway for a suspect after a Texas state trooper was shot and killed Thanksgiving Day on Interstate 45 just south of Fairfield in Freestone County.

Navarro County officials said the shooting happened at about 4 p.m. Authorities identified the suspect as Dabrett Black, of Lindale. He's described as a black male, 5 feet 11 inches tall and 175 pounds. The suspect fled the scene in a gray Chevy Malibu with plates JDN-4273.
